Bay Shore Church gathers for worship on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m.in the sanctuary. Each week, the service theme, sermon, music and prayers are based on a scripture passage chosen for the day.
For more information about particular worship services, please visit the Calendar of Events and click on an upcoming worship service.
We hope you’ll join us for worship!
Music is an integral part of our worship life and congregational singing is accompanied by pipe organ or piano. Our Chancel Choir, Bay Shore Bells, and Children’s Choir lend their musical gifts to worship on a regular basis. Other instrumental music including saxophone, brass, strings, flute, harp, harpsichord, and more are incorporated into our worship throughout the year.
For more information about our music programs, please visit the Music Ministries page.
Typically we receive communion on the first Sunday of each month and at other special services throughout the year. Bay Shore Church practices open communion and all people who wish to receive the elements are welcome to take part. Everyone is invited to the Lord’s Table–you need not be a member of our church or any other; even if you aren’t sure what you believe, you are welcome to participate. Our communion elements are bread and grape juice (gluten-free options are available).
Children in Worship
Children are always welcome to stay for all parts of the service and children. We have Bible based coloring sheets upon arrival and there is a special Children’s Time during the service where children are invited to come forward for a special message for them. Of course if it’s more comfortable, you can come forward with your child. Parents are welcome, too! Worship often features our children’s choir and theatric productions.
The children and youth of Bay Shore Church are involved in many activities that all begin with an engaging Sunday school program. Following Children’s Time in the worship service, they move to the Sunday school classrooms where they are led in fun lessons on faith by our stellar teachers. For more information about our educational ministries for all ages, please visit the Education page.
Nursery care is provided for infants and children up to age 3 during the entire service. Our nursery caregiver, Felicity Miller, and her team of attendants are there to take care of our youngest ones every Sunday. A paging system is available so you may be reached during worship if there is a need for you to return to the nursery. The nursery is located in our Christian Education wing and one of the ushers would be happy to show you where it is when you arrive.Fellowship Time
All are welcome to join us for fellowship, fresh-brewed coffee (donated by Belmont Shore’s own Polly’s Coffee), tea, juice, and donuts immediately following worship in our adjacent Concert Hall. We enjoy spending this social time together and the Concert Hall is always teeming with energy as our children and youth emerge from Sunday School and adults engage in conversation about the morning’s worship and mission projects, catch up on news from church friends, or prepare to head off to an after-worship meeting.
Holiday Worship Services
Bay Shore Church gathers to worship on several important holidays throughout the year. On Christmas Eve, we have three evening services at 5:00, 7:30, and 10:00. We also hold evening services on Ash Wednesday and Maundy Thursday. On Easter morning we gather for two services at 9:00 and 10:30. We hope you will join us for one of these special worship services!
