FUN Fundraiser Facts

As we get closer to our May 7th fundraiser, “Bay Shore Goes to the Movies,” we thought you’d like to know some of the milestones we have reached as a congregation over the last 13 years of fundraising.

2005 was called ‘Summer Fund$’ when we started with assists by Alicia Adams and Lorie Moran for a few years and then transitioned to Julie Ramsey and a multifaceted team and continuing on to last year’s theme “We Love Bay Shore.” As a congregation, we have raised almost $350,000 and sent 50+ kids to Pilgrim Pines. We funded new choir robes and chapel chairs, remodeled the children’s wing at church, replaced the fellowship hall stage curtains, installed a new screen over the stage, paid for new planters and much more with our fund-a-need campaigns throughout the 13 years.

We auctioned off vacation homes, trips, Disneyland & theater tickets, ballgame tickets, many dinners and lots of wine baskets! We even took 188 folks on Duffy rides with dinners and many more boat rides through our fabulous canals and harbors while enjoying libations!

Our fundraiser showtime themes have included a fully staged production of The Music Man, a trip to Gilligan’s Island, time travel through the decades, and many more. We have enjoyed tap dancers, singers, puppets talking with the youth and even a man in a TV! More than 585 entertainers have shared their talents and treasures with us over the years.

This year’s fund-a-need will focus on our fabulous stained glass windows that are in need of some weatherproofing. More on that as we get closer. Please support this year’s efforts by buying entrance passes and donating live or silent auction items. We will be decorating the Youth Center and Fellowship Hall on Saturday, May 6th @ 9:00am and need lots of helping hands. There are 22 tables to decorate and (hopefully) over 100 silent auction items to set up as well as much, much more to get set up for this multi-generational congregational event!

The committee will be selling tickets for $15 per person and $40 per family on both Sundays, April 23rd and April 30th after worship in the fellowship hall. The last date to turn in action items and get this pricing is Sunday, April 30th.
